INGREDIENTS

  • 1 cup flour
  • 1 cup cocoa
  • 1 pkg baking powder
  • 1 cup oil
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 cup grated nuts
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 2 apples
  • Apricot jam or other jam to taste

Ingredients for the gluten-free alternative

Replace 1 cup of flour with:

  • ½ cup rice flour
  • ½ cup almond flour
  • 2 tbsp locust bean gum

Be sure to reduce the amount of oil to ¾ cup, as the almond flour brings a strong fat content.

PREPARATION

  1. You do not need a scale for a mug cake. All ingredient quantities are measured with a cup. In this recipe, an empty sour cream cup is used as a measure for the ingredients.
  2. For the chocolate mug cake, first preheat the oven to 180° C (upper-lower heat).
  3. Then mix the flour with the baking powder.
  4. Then mix all the ingredients in a mixing bowl with a wooden spoon.
  5. Spread the dough on a baking tray lined with baking paper and bake for 7 minutes at 180 degrees.
  6. In the meantime, core and slice the apples.
  7. After 7 minutes, remove the cake from the oven and place the apple pieces on top.
  8. Bake the cake at 180°C for about 20 minutes.
  9. While the cake is still warm, spread a thin layer of the well-mixed apricot jam on top.
