Lentil Spread for Any Occasion

Today, I present to you a delicious and nutritious lentil spread that serves perfectly as a starter for a menu or as a tasty snack in between meals. This spread impresses with its rich flavor and a variety of healthy ingredients. Garnished with delicate daisies and fresh spring onions, this spread will not only delight your taste buds but also please the eye.

Red lentils are an excellent base for this spread. They are particularly high in protein and contain many fibers that keep you full for a long time. Additionally, they are a good source of iron, folic acid, and magnesium, making them a valuable ingredient in any balanced diet. Since red lentils cook quickly and have a soft consistency, they are ideal for spreads and dips.

INGREDIENTS

  • 200 g red lentils
  • 1 onion or 1 spring onion
  • 1 garlic clove
  • ½ tsp ground cumin
  • ½ tsp hummus seasoning, if available
  • 1 bunch of parsley
  • Olive oil for sautéing
  • Pepper, salt
  • 1 tablespoon lime juice

PREPARATION

  1. Cook the red lentils according to the package instructions, drain, and set aside.
  2. Finely chop the onion and garlic and sauté in olive oil until golden brown.
  3. Put all the ingredients in a Thermomix and puree to a creamy consistency. If you don’t have a Thermomix, simply use an immersion blender.
  4. Season with salt, pepper, and lime juice.
  5. Transfer the lentil spread to a bowl and garnish with daisies and chopped spring onions.
