They are rich in omega-3 fatty acids, dietary fiber, and lignans, which are known for their anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties. Additionally, these wraps are oil-free, making them a clean, low-carb alternative to traditional tortillas. Whether you’re embracing a ketogenic lifestyle, avoiding gluten, or simply seeking a wholesome option for wraps, this recipe has you covered.

Why Gold Flaxseeds?

Gold flaxseeds are not only visually appealing but also milder in flavor compared to their brown counterparts. Their high content of soluble fiber helps promote healthy digestion, while their omega-3 fatty acids contribute to heart and brain health. Additionally, their natural binding properties make them an excellent gluten-free alternative in recipes like these wraps.

These Gold Flaxseed Wraps are a game-changer for anyone looking for a quick, healthy, and versatile meal base. With their subtle nutty flavor and soft yet sturdy texture, they pair perfectly with both savory and sweet fillings. INGREDIENTS

Ingredients for 2 wraps:

  • 90 g (about 1 cup) gold flaxseeds (or pre-ground flaxseed meal)
  • 90–110 ml (approx. ⅓–½ cup) water
  • 1 tbsp spices of your choice (e.g., salt, pepper, turmeric, chili, dried herbs)

Optional Tools:

  • A Thermomix or high-speed blender for grinding whole flaxseeds

PREPARATION

  1. Grind the flaxseeds:
    – If using whole flaxseeds, grind them into a fine meal using a Thermomix (30 seconds on speed 10) or a high-speed blender. You can also opt for store-bought flaxseed meal for convenience.
  2. Prepare the dough:
    – Bring the water to a boil in a small saucepan.
    – Stir in the spices of your choice. Popular options include turmeric for its vibrant color and anti-inflammatory benefits or chili for a spicy kick.
    – Turn off the heat and quickly stir in the flaxseed meal until a dough forms.
  3. Cool the dough:
    – Allow the dough to rest and cool to room temperature before handling. This step ensures easy rolling.
  4. Shape the wraps:
    – Divide the dough into two equal portions.
    – Place one portion between two sheets of parchment paper and roll it out into a thin circle or rectangle, depending on your preference.
    – Peel off the top parchment paper and trim the edges for an even shape.
  5. Cook the wraps:
    – Preheat a dry, non-stick pan over medium heat (no oil needed).
    – Carefully transfer the wrap to the pan and cook for 2–3 minutes on each side until golden and firm.
  6. Repeat:
    – Repeat the rolling and cooking process for the second portion of dough.
TIP
  • Freezer-Friendly: Prepare the dough in advance, roll it out between parchment paper, and freeze it for later use. When ready, simply thaw, place in a hot pan, and cook as directed.
  • Customizable: Experiment with different spice combinations to match your desired flavor profile. Add Italian herbs for a Mediterranean twist or curry powder for a hint of spice.
  • Storage: Store cooked wraps in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days or freeze for longer storage.
