Puff Pastry with pudding

Time Travelers: Puff pastry pudding particles with heavenly vanilla pudding and dreamy grape jelly! These little treats are not only a treat for the palate, but also a culinary time machine that takes us on a sweet journey through the centuries. Ever since ancient Rome, connoisseurs have appreciated the art of puff pastry, which is presented in crisp perfection in our bites.

Vanilla pudding, once a royal favorite at the court of Louis XIV, gives our pastries a velvety elegance. Vanilla, once called “black gold,” transforms the pudding into a noble delicacy that would enrapture even the gods of Olympus.

What would a taste adventure be without a touch of history? Did you know that the first puff pastry recipes date back to ancient Egypt? The art of wafer-thin pastry layers was perfected over the centuries until it finally culminated in the form of our tantalizing pastries.

And as for grape jelly, it’s not just a filling – it’s a piece of memory of sun-drenched vineyards. Homemade from choice grapes, it gives the pastries a sweet freshness reminiscent of a walk through the vines.

After these delicacies get their golden tan in the oven, we top them with a soft dusting of snowy sugar – as if time itself had sprinkled its magical blessing on them.

INGREDIENTS

  • 2 pkg puff pastry
  • 1/2 pkg vanilla pudding powder
  • Grape jelly or another jam
  • 1 egg yolk or some milk
  • powdered sugar

PREPARATION

  1. Prepare the vanilla pudding according to the description and let it cool down so that it is easier to handle afterwards. For the puff pastry, half a package is sufficient.
  2. As soon as the pudding is firm and cool, you can roll out the puff pastry.
  3. Cut 15 rectangles of the same size.
  4. Cut the rectangles on one puff pastry, so that when they are put together, some of the delicious filling comes out and becomes an eye-catcher.
  5. Now place a large tablespoon of pudding on each of the rectangles that have not been cut.
  6. Place a teaspoon of grape jelly on top of the pudding. Now carefully place the cut rectangles on top of the pudding particles and press down well on the edge.
  7. Brush the pudding with egg yolk or milk.
  8. Bake at 180 ° C in the oven for about 20 minutes until golden brown.
  9. After they have cooled a little, sprinkle with powdered sugar.
TIP

Grape jelly has a perfect acidity that goes wonderfully with sweet pudding. Of course, other jellies and jams can also be used. Ideal in the combination are those that bring a little acidity.
