Sometimes less is more—especially when it comes to quick dishes. With this recipe, you can create delicious spareribs in no time without spending hours at the grill. Thanks to the clever preparation method and the use of a gas grill or even the oven, these ribs turn out tender and juicy in record time.

The Secret of Quick Grilling

Gas grills are perfect for those who love the unparalleled taste of grilling but don’t have much time for preparation. With their quick heat-up time and precise temperature control, they allow for efficient grilling without long wait times. For this recipe, spareribs become tender and flavorful in a short time—a true delight for grill enthusiasts.

Homemade Rub and BBQ Sauce

A special highlight of this recipe is the homemade spice mix (rub) and BBQ sauce, which you can customize to your liking. You can find the recipes for these on my blog, but this dish also works excellently with store-bought rubs and sauces—perfect for quick preparation without compromising on taste.

INGREDIENTS

  • Spareribs
  • Rub (homemade or store-bought)
  • BBQ sauce (homemade or store-bought)
  • 1.5 liters apple juice

PREPARATION

  1. Remove the silver skin from the spareribs.
  2. Generously cover one side of the spareribs with the rub and let it sit for about 5-10 minutes.
  3. Turn the spareribs and cover the other side with rub. Let it sit for another 5-10 minutes.
  4. Pour 1.5 liters of apple juice into a roasting pan or grill tray with a rack.
  5. Place the rack in the pan and lay the spareribs on the rack. Cover with a lid.
  6. Preheat the gas grill, only using the right and left burners, to about 150°C (at least 120°C). Once the temperature is reached, place the covered pan in the center of the grill for indirect grilling.
  7. After about 1.5 hours, open the grill and remove the lid.
  8. Place the spareribs directly on the grill, increase the temperature, and grill for about 15 minutes.
  9. Glaze the spareribs with BBQ sauce and grill for another 15 minutes.
  10. Remove the spareribs from the grill and, if desired, glaze with BBQ sauce again.
TIP

For a more intense smoky flavor, it’s recommended to use a rub and BBQ sauce with a smoky note. This will make any barbecue a real highlight!
