The components: A harmonious trio

Peaches are particularly aromatic and juicy in summer. They bring a natural sweetness that harmonizes perfectly with the salty bacon. In addition to selenium, zinc and magnesium, peaches contain a lot of niacin (vitamin B3). Our muscles and our skin, but above all our nerves, need niacin in order to be able to regenerate. Our body also uses vitamin B3 to produce messenger substances in the brain that improve our mood.

The pancetta provides a savory, salty touch and becomes beautifully crispy when grilled, creating a wonderful contrast to the soft texture of the peaches.

Fresh sage leaves give the dish an intense, slightly peppery aroma. Sage is known for its versatile use in Mediterranean cuisine and pairs perfectly with meat and fruit combinations.

These grilled skewers with peaches, bacon and sage are a wonderful addition to any barbecue party. They are easy to prepare and bring a unique flavor combination to your grill plate. Try this recipe and enjoy the summer with a special culinary highlight!

INGREDIENTS

  • 4 peaches
  • 200 g bacon (thinly sliced)
  • A handful of fresh sage leaves
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Skewers

PREPARATION

  1. Preparation: Soak the wooden skewers in water for at least 30 minutes so that they do not burn when grilling.
  2. Prepare the peaches: Wash the peaches, core them and cut them into bite-sized pieces.
  3. Load the skewers: Place a piece of peach, a leaf of sage and a piece of pancetta on each skewer. Repeat this process until the skewers are full.
  4. Season: Brush the finished skewers with olive oil and season with salt and pepper.
  5. Grill: Grill the skewers on the preheated grill over medium heat until the bacon is crispy and the peaches are slightly caramelized. Turn them regularly so that they cook evenly. This only takes about 10 minutes in total.
  6. Serve: Remove the skewers from the grill and serve hot.
TIP

If you use wooden skewers, be sure to soak them in water for about 30 minutes beforehand.
